PRINCE GEORGE – PG has created opportunities for many people and industries including one local woman whose dream was to work with her family in the trucking industry.

Ashley Sidhu is a young woman who has inspired many women across the world to break through the male-dominated industries.

Her family owns a trucking company called Malla Trucking LTD. Malla Trucking Ltd. is a family-owned and operated trucking company based in Prince George, BC. With their help and encouragement, she was able to learn and grow. However, she noticed there wasn’t a tone of women in the field, so she started documenting her journey on social media to show women, they can do anything.

” I was super passionate about bringing more women into the industry and as of right now we have three women drivers with us. Two work full-time in the truck and one is part-time, she helps out in the office and does a little bit with the dump truck and dumps people’s loads for them” explained Ashley Sidhu, who is the HR manager with Sprayer Fleet Wash in Prince George. ” There is so much that can happen on there and that’s the route that the world is going so that’s part of it. Being in a male-dominated industry, I thought it was very, very important to represent myself and be a role model for other females that want to come into this industry because you know it’s a very, very intimidating thing.

Ashley says she has had to deal with some social media trolls but overall she has received a huge amount of support online and within her own trucking community.

Her advice to anyone who may be concerned about their gender role in certain industries or even to those who aren’t sure.
