PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars fell behind the eight ball and couldn’t claw out of a deficit Friday (Feb. 4) evening.

Nearing the tail-end of their six-game U.S. road trip, the Cougars fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-2. Seattle scored the first four goals – three in the first period and the fourth 30 seconds into the second.

Koehnn Ziemmer put the puck home near the far post following a broken play to send the Cougars into the second intermission on a positive note, now trailing 4-1. The Thunderbirds responded with three unanswered goals before Ryker Singer added a goal off the rush for Prince George in the final minute.

The Cougars fell to 18-22-2-1 on the 2021-22 Western Hockey League season, good for 39 points in 43 games, third in the B.C. Division, and sixth in the Western Conference. They conclude their U.S. road trip Saturday (Feb. 5) in Everett against the Western leading Silvertips.
