Warm weather expected to stay for 10 days

PRINCE GEORGE – Temperatures have been rising for the past few days, a welcome sight for those usually bundled up in scarves and hats this time of year. These warmer temperatures are putting outdoor winter events at risk though.

For example, the accelerated melt has the future of an outdoor event at the ice oval this weekend in doubt, though the organizer is still optimistic things will work out as overnight lows are expected to drop by then.

Though the warm temperatures have flooded some parts of the ice oval, there is no concern over at the Caledonia Nordic Centre, where snow isn’t a problem regardless of the weather. They make their snow with recently purchased snow-making machines.
