Houston woman celebrates $500K Lotto 6/49 win

HOUSTON — A woman from Houston won $500,000 on the January 1 Lotto 6/49 draw.

The BC Lottery Corporation says Leane Holmes said ‘Yes’ to the Extra when she purchased her ticket at the 7-Eleven on Highway 16 in Smithers. She says she put the ticket in her pocket and kept it there until she pulled it out two days later to check it.

“Oh my God! I won! I actually won!” she said.

Holmes says she enjoys playing the lottery for the chance to dream, and her dream has always been to buy her own home.
