COVID-19 claims life of northern B.C. resident

VICTORIA — The provincial government is reporting 12 new COVID-19 related deaths in B.C., including one person from the Northern Health region.

It brings the provincial death toll since the pandemic began to 2,851. Of that total, 307 are from northern B.C.

Despite that, hospitalizations have dropped to 599, down from 612 yesterday. Ninety-six people are in intensive care, down six from yesterday.

As for vaccinations, 90.6 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.1 per cent have received their second dose.
