Potential patio plan

PRINCE GEORGE – Provincial health orders have hit many restaurants and cafes hard and forced some to open outdoor patios to stay afloat. The public health officer is expected to lift some restrictions later this month. However, a local business owner plans to wait to see if a patio for this summer season is worth the cost.

A year ago, Kim Hayhurst, owner of The Makerie Craft & Coffee Bar, moved some of her indoor business operations to the sidewalk and street. The decision to do so was easy as the city relaxed some of its restrictions on streetside patios.

The City of Prince George understood the challenges of local business owners. They worked with businesses and waived the cost of a temporary occupancy license.
