RCMP arrest man wanted on Canada-wide warrant

QUESNEL — Mounties in Quesnel arrested a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant yesterday (Mar.8) morning.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Clay Kronebusch says at just after 11:30 a.m., police arrested 33-year-old Robert Hendrikus Hovestad.

“Hovestad was found hiding out in a residence on Allard Street,” he says. “Hovestad initially refused to come out of the residence, but after a short interaction, he exited the residence and surrendered to police without incident.”

RCMP say Hovestad was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole violation. Police in Quesnel had first requested the public’s help in locating him back on January 27.

“We would like to thank all the members of the community for being vigilant in attempts to help locate this man and bring him safely into custody,” adds Kronebusch. “The safety of the public remains our top priority.”
