Local MPs among hundreds of leaders banned from entering Russia

PRINCE GEORGE—In a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, more than 300 Canadians—including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—are banned from entering Russia, following sweeping sanctions.

Almost all members of parliament are named in the list, including Conservative MPs Todd Doherty and Bob Zimmer. Along with them, NDP MP Taylor Bachrach is banned. This comes after all three strongly condemned Russia’s invasion into Ukraine.

Last week, the B.C. government is preparing to accept thousands of refugees, fleeing from the conflict. Bachrach is applauding the move from the government to prepare for the influx.

“One thing that I know is that people of the northwest are generous and hospitable. They’re going to do everything that they can to assist any people who are fleeing Ukraine and coming to our region. That’s a;ways good to see.” said Bachrach.
