QUESNEL —A 35-year-old Quesnel man is back in custody following a drug bust yesterday (Mar.15).

Quesnel RCMP say the Quesnel Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), with the help of RCMP Police Dog Services, arrested the man following the execution of a search warrant at a dwelling unit on the 300 block of St. Laurent Avenue at around 2:30 p.m.

Sgt. Richard Weseen says RCMP seized a large quantity of heroin, cash, and a loaded sawed-off shotgun.

“During this one-week investigation, CRU observed steady foot traffic coming and going from this location. It was abundantly clear that the man was dealing drugs from the unit,” said Cpl. Mark Isaak.

“The location was in close proximity to support agencies for vulnerable people, which made the file a priority to reduce community harm.”

Police say the unnamed suspect was released from jail one month ago on 13 charges unrelated to this investigation. He was on house arrest and was prohibited from possessing firearms.

The suspect is currently being held in police custody on several charges and is awaiting a bail hearing.
