PRINCE GEORGE– It’s often said being a student-athlete is like having two full-time jobs. So to do that and be named a U-Sport Academic All-Canadian is quite impressive. At UNBC many Timberwolves received that honor, enough to break a school record, 38 of them to be exact. Something that Athletic Director Lauralynn Murcoch loves to see from these exceptional people.

In order to achieve such an honor, students have to achieve a Grade Point Average of 3.67 or higher which is an A- letter grade, all while making time for training, practice, and games.

The Presidents Honor Roll Award is a new award that was created this year, to honor the student-athlete that achieved the highest GPA on each of the four Timberwolves varsity teams. One of those award winners is Anthony Preston on the men’s soccer team. And although it can be challenging at times he says UNBC does an amazing job of helping student-athletes achieve their goals both on the field and in the classroom.

Others who received the President’s Honour Roll were Mikaela Cadorette of the Women’s Soccer team, Lucy Guan of the Women’s Basketball team, and Daniel Kopf of Men’s Basketball. All three of them as well as Preston finished the year with a perfect 4.33 GPA in the 2020-2021 year.
