Flagging truck involved in crash south of Quesnel

PRINCE GEORGE – An accident that closed Highway 97 south of Quesnel for several hours in both ways on Tuesday afternoon involved a flagging truck according to Emcon Services Inc.

RCMP say there were no injuries at the scene South of Quesnel near Dale Road which was first called in just after 2 pm.

In a Facebook post, Emcon Services said the semi-truck struck their flagging truck.

“We remind drivers that work zones need extra attention and to drive at slower controlled speeds,” said Emcon.

The traffic control and road maintenance company contracted for services in the Quesnel region said workers deserve safe areas to conduct road work.

“They want to get home to their loved ones too,” said the post.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation according to Mounties, Highway 97 was reopened several hours after the crash.
