Controlled fires scheduled to start along Tachie Highway corridor

PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Wildfire Service is planning on conducting controlled grass burns along the Tachie Highway corridor.

These burns are anticipated to start today (Mar.28) and will be completed intermittently throughout April and into May. The fires are being completed to reduce wildfire hazards and to protect BC Hydro infrastructure that provides utilities to surrounding communities.

During the burns smoke may be visible from Fort St.James and surrounding communities.

Staff from BC Wildfire Services will be present to prepare, control and monitor the fires.
