PRINCE GEORGE —Prince George RCMP have arrested two men in connection with the local drug trade.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper told CKPG News that it’s taken out two major players in the investigation of recent gang activity in town. Earlier today, CKPG News reported that three homicides this year point to a rising gang conflict in Prince George.

The men were arrested by the Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit over the past two days.

Cooper says after attempting to evade police by ramming a police vehicle, 31-year-old Prince George resident Colin Durrand was arrested without further incident on March 29. Police found Durrand in possession of both body armour and a loaded high-calibre rifle with high capacity magazines.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved the following charges against Durrand:

  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited ammunition
  • Transporting a firearm contrary to regulations
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to an order
  • Resisting arrest
  • Fail to comply with probation
  • Possession of body armour without a valid permit
  • Possession of a firearm without a license and/or registration

RCMP say in the late hours of March 30, Street Crew Unit members located another man known to be involved in the criminal subculture of Prince George. Police arrested 34-year-old Sebastian Goudreau, for breaching his court ordered conditions. He was found in possession of two loaded, restricted weapons, body armour, cash and a large quantity of suspected fentanyl. He was held for court today.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved the following charges against him:

  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition x2
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x2
  • Possession of a weapon x2
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to an Order x5
  • Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number is tampered with
  • Fail to comply with release order x2
  • Possession of body armour without permit
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

“The back-to-back arrests of these two known offenders, with direct ties to the drug trade in Prince George, showcases the dedication and commitment by our Street Crew Unit and fellow officers in locating these known offenders and disrupting this recent violent criminal trend,” says Cooper.

She says police are encouraging the public to remain vigilante to ongoing suspicious activities in their neighbourhood, as the public warning against the ongoing gang conflict in Prince George has not lessened, despite the arrests of two key players in the drug scene.
