British Columbians are urged to prepare for floods and wildfires
PRINCE GEORGE – The province asks British Columbians to prepare for floods and wildfires this year.
They are urging British Columbians to better protect their homes and financial security by buying flood and fire insurance and taking further action to minimize the potential for damage when flooding is forecast, or the wildfire threat is high.
According to the province, many BC residents are uninsured or underinsured by the hazards, which are becoming more frequent due to climate change.
Disaster Financial Assistance is not available for losses due to wildfire because of the availability of fire insurance, which is why it is important to discuss coverage with an insurance company or representative.
