PRINCE GEORGE – For the past several years, Prince George has been without a wrestling club after the Prince George Wrestling Club dissolved.

But now, following a notable surge in wrestling club registrations across the province, the club has been reincarnated.

Dennis McCarthy, once a member himself during the mid-80s to early 90s, sent the call-out for wrestlers in March, with their official return earlier this month with sessions taking place at Prince George Secondary School.

“My son’s expressed interest in wrestling, a lot of my friend’s kids have expressed interest in wrestling, so we decided to re-open the club back up after it was dissolved,” explained McCarthy. “Our numbers are great. We have 20-plus kids in the elementary program, 20 kids in the high school program right now, and everybody’s having a lot of fun.”

The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays with the elementary program practising ahead of the high school program inside the small gym located above the PGSS main gym.
