PRINCE GEORGE – Crews remained on scene throughout the day on Monday following an early morning fire that left Barbers on 3rd at a complete loss.

Bryan Burleigh, Deputy Chief of Operations for PG Fire-Rescue said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, noting when crews arrived the building was fully engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported from the blaze.

When crews arrived heavy smoke and fire were found coming from the front of the business.

Crews immediately attacked the fire and pressurized adjacent units to limit fire spread. With limited firefighters at this fire scene crew managed to keep the fire to the unit of origin.

Fire damage at this building is estimated at approx. $1m and is a total loss.

The fire is the continuation of a pattern in downtown Prince George. Recently, a fire in the alley behind Randy’s Auto on 3rd Avenue left that business with hundreds of thousands in damage.

In October, the old REMAX building on Brunswick street was burnt to a complete loss.

Just down the street from the fire Monday morning stands the Special Beauty Parlour and Day Spa, that building as well was victim to a fire last June. The business has since remained closed along with the neighbouring business on the corner of 3rd and Quebec.

A series of blazes the CEO of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce calls concerning.
