Spirit Day to feature pick your passion for healthcare this Thursday

PRINCE GEORGE – Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the return of Spirit Day Thursday, May 5th, 2022.

The much loved and greatly supported annual event will be running from 7 am to 7 pm, broadcast on 99.3 Rewind Radio and 101.3 The River, hosted live from the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort once again. This is a proud partner with Pattison Media, ongoing since 2017.

‘Spirit Day is always such an exciting time! Seeing the community rally behind funding vital medical equipment and programs here at home is inspiring. What makes Spirit Day so special is the ability for donors to choose areas closest to their heart, where the impact can be felt locally by their friends, family and loved ones,’ said Aimee Cassie, CEO of Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. ‘We are truly grateful for all the incredible support including sponsors, donors, and volunteers who make Spirit Day possible. Every gift, regardless of size, has a ripple effect felt throughout our Region.’

Donors are invited to Pick Your Passion, and direct funds to one of the following active campaigns; Cancer Care, Respiratory, Mental Health and Wellness, Seniors Health and Wellness, Pediatrics, Lymphedema, or Area of Greatest Need. In addition, every donation of $99 or 101 dollars sends a Spirit Bear to the pediatrics floor to comfort our littlest patients.

For Cancer Care, the focus is on purchasing a new robotic couch-assisted six-dimensional (6D) patient positioning system. The new tool would eliminate the need to send patients elsewhere for specific cancer treatment while also advancing the local ability to continue world-class research.

On May 5th, you can support by calling 250-565-2800, donating online at www.spiritofthenorth.ca or visiting Prestige Treasure Cove Resort for lunch where Grant Trunk Tavern will be hosting a BBQ lunch with proceeds supporting Spirit Day. Local Tim Horton’s restaurants will also be supporting on May 5th with Spirit doughnuts available throughout the day.

‘Healthcare touches us all, each of us in different ways, which is what makes Spirit Day so important. Thanks in part to the support of last year’s Spirit Day, we were able to fund the addition of an Adolescent Calming Room at UHNBC. This safe and therapeutic space provides a low-stimuli environment to allow children to de-escalate an emotionally charged situation. This addition would not be possible without the generous donors of Spirit Day.’
