PRINCE GEORGE– Early this morning The Prince George Red Dress Society paid a visit to DP Todd Secondary to spread awareness about the importance of remembering missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people as well as explain the symbolism of the Red Dress to a younger generation. The event included drumming to welcome students and a very special display at the front of the school.

Tammy Meise is the President of the Prince George Red Dress Society and when the school reached out to them about hosting an assembly to help spread awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

Meise says it’s heartwarming to see how far awareness of this issue has come since the society started back in 2016. While DP Todd plans to keep up a special display in the school year-round to honor those who have tragically lost their lives.
