PRINCE GEORGE – After many years of travels across Canada collecting seeds, plants, and saplings Jim Good created one of the most unique experiences ever seen in the Prince George region.

For his remarkable work in the community and dedication to Goodsir Nature Park near Salmon Valley, BC, Jim received a BC Community Award from the BC Achievement Foundation.

The Community Award celebrates British Columbians who go above and beyond in their dedication and service to others. It honours individuals who devote their time and energy to making their communities more caring, dynamic, beautiful, healthy and inclusive.

“I could never have imagined getting something like this, in my lifetime for something I have done,” said Good.

Goodsir Nature Park is perfect for visitors, families and groups. It is a must for all of Canada to see and is in the top 10 best places in the area to visit. The park was built over a lifetime by one person Jim Good who also served in the junior forest wardens in the 1960s and 70s.

‘Goodsir Nature Park is a place where you can come experience a first-hand
relaxing environment. The trails are well-maintained and along the way, you’ll see various interpretive signs identifying all native plant and tree life in the region. Two botanical gardens have native trees from other areas of BC as well as different provinces and territories growing there.’

The park is home to over 200 kinds of native trees and you can explore the property using its 3 km of well-maintained walking trails with educational signs along the way explaining interesting facts about botany, flora and some local history.

Goodsir is also looking for volunteers to assist him at the park this summer to complete the maintenance and upkeep of the park trails and campsites. If you or someone you know is interested you are asked to reach out through the Goodsir Nature Park website.
