PRINCE GEORGE—Rewind Radio’s Darren Coogan caught up with Prince George actor Grace Dove to talk about some of her upcoming projects including an untitled series set in Alaska on ABC with Hilary Swank.

“It must be amazing that the word is out that you will be starring in this series alongside Hilary Swank,” asked Coogan.

“Well, it has only been a few days so it still feels oddly surreal. We filmed this pilot before Christmas back in November and I have had to sit on this amazing journey, and I feel like a whole different person after every role I do. So finally being able to be like “That’s what I have been working on! It’s Hilary Swank.” It’s such a relief and so much joy as well,” said Dove.

“Tell me about the connection you had as a young girl wanting to get into acting and Hilary Swank,” asked Coogan

“Growing up in the north before dial-up, at least where I grew up, we didn’t have TV so my connection to Hollywood was so limited but the one thing me and my dad talked about was Hilary Swank. Watching her movies together and studying her craft. My dad always said to watch her because she was really good. Oddly enough my first network series regular is opposite Hilary,” said Dove. “I don’t know how these things happen. I truly do believe in manifestation and this is what I am meant to do. It’s such a gift, I am so grateful.”

“They say not to meet your heroes because you might be let down. What was it like meeting Hilary?” asked Coogan

“Yeah that’s so funny everyone I have met, maybe I have just been really blessed with the people I am around but people said the same thing about Leonardo DiCaprio and he was nothing but kind and gentle and it’s the same with Hilary Swank. She is so dedicated and when you sit across the table from her she is so into the work. She is present. She is kind and I don’t know how I keep ending up in these circles but it feels so good,” replied Dove

“You are also involved in a mini-series called Bones of Crows. this really touches you in a very very significant place in your heart and soul, ” said Coogan.

“That’s right. I was actually filming both of these shows at the same time. I was stretched in every direction completely working every muscle I had and had these great opportunities. Bones of Crows is so important to me. It is by writer-director Marie Clements and it will be premiering on CBC. I am the lead of that I play Aline Spears, she is a WW2 Cree code talker. It spans my life from the time I was 16 all the way until my 80s in present times. We deal with my character going through residential schools with a lot of abuse and trauma that indigenous people have faced all the way to graves being uncovered that we are dealing with today. Also going to war, I had to learn a different language and it was a four-month shoot. We filmed all across B.C. Kamloops, Vancouver, Victoria, it was the biggest project I had done yet to this time. I am so proud of it. It has changed every part of my being.” said Dove.

The still-untitled Alaska project is slated to air on ABC in the fall Thursday nights at 10. Bones of Crows is scheduled to release this fall on CBC though no day or times have been announced.
