Tire specialists say if you want to reduce consumption and keep money in
rivers’ pockets, it is best to check if you have properly inflated tires.
Reports have shown that up to 70 percent of vehicles on the road today have one or more underinflated tires.
Low tires can increase fuel consumption by 4 to 8 percent so it’s best to check each tire with a pressure gauge and even those on the trailer.
Most vehicles will have a door placard with the information on tire pressures needed for the front and back tires.
Wheel alignment and unbalanced tires not correctly aligned can drag along the road instead of rolling smoothly. This tire drug can cause an increase in fuel consumption of up to 25%.
Lastly, driver habits can have a significant impact on saving you money. Accelerate gently, avoid slamming the breaks and try to remain at a steady speed, when possible, to save on gas.
