Trash into gas
PRINCE GEORGE – The landfill gas that’s currently flared off at the Foothills Landfill will now be redirected into the existing gas line so it can meet some of the natural gas needs of approximately 1000 homes in BC.
A system of pipes at the Foothills landfill flows a steady stream of methane gas produced by waste from the landfill.
The latest agreement between Fortis BC and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is expected to produce approximately 90,000 gigajoules of renewable Natural Gas a year starting in 2024.
