PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Airport hosted the pilots and sponsors of the 2022 expedition of Giving Hope Wings Tuesday morning. A fundraiser that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hope Air in just a few years.

Since 1984 Hope Air has been helping Canadians facing severe health issues get to appointments, believing that those in need shouldn’t have to worry about things such as travel costs and wait times.

“I heard about the expedition from Dave McIlroy, the founder. I was very interested in joining him on in South America as a pass expedition as a passenger. And but that didn’t quite work out, ” said Steve Drinkwater, an expedition captain for Give Hope Wings. “Traveling in 2019 up through British Columbia, Cornell here in Prince George Fort Saint John hearing the beneficiaries of Hope Harry’s efforts, the clients of Hope Air tell their personal stories about how Hope Air managed to change their lives. It was a very emotional experience to hear those first-person accounts, as we did this morning from the gentleman who recounted his experiences.”

Vince Ramcharran was the gentleman who spoke to the group, who has been working with Hope Air from the very beginning.

” My first experience at Hope Air was in 1985 when my doctor sent me to get an eye examination, and it was discovered I have glaucoma,” Said Ramcharran. “I contacted Hope Air in Toronto, and they started booking flights for me to Vancouver for surgery and other treatment. Prior to that, I was taking the bus for about 12 hours to Vancouver, and also, I had to pay for hotel rooms.”

Vince thanks Hope Air and credits them for saving his vision and his way of life.
