Scrap tire collection event this Saturday

PRINCE GEORGE — If you’re looking to get rid of some old tires, Kal Tire will be the place to be on Saturday.

From 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Kal Tire, in partnership with Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC), will host a scrap tire collection event at 750 Boundary Road.

Locals and those from surrounding areas are invited to scrap their ties at no charge.

TSBC says events like these also present a great opportunity to educate British Columbians on the many products that scrap tires are recycled into, such as playground safety surfacing, recreational flooring, water parks, animal mats, garden mulch and truck bed liners.

“Over the years TSBC has provided several grants to organizations in Prince George who have used recylced B.C. tires in an environmentally friendly manner for a variety of projects. For example, TSBC provided the City of Prince George with a $20,000 grant to go towards 4,025 sq.ft. of new dressing room floors at the CN Centre, made from 575 scrap tires.”
