Cause of early morning Queensway fire discovered

UPDATE—Prince George Fire Rescue has released further information about this morning’s fire on Queensway. In a release this afternoon, Fire Chief Cliff Warner stated that the fire was accidental and caused by electrical equipment in an office area. Warner credits working smoke/heat detectors and fire alarm systems for aiding in the quick notification of emergency services and waking occupants so they could safely leave the building.

 

PRINCE GEORGE—Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a fire early this morning on the 1400 block of Queensway.

When crews arrived they found a third-floor apartment fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to keep the fire contained to the involved apartment.

The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damages. At the time of the fire, there were 30 people in the complex, all of whom were able to exit the building. One person was taken to hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation.
