WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Authorities are trying to determine why a pickup truck left the road near Williams Lake Wednesday (Aug. 24), killing its driver.

In a news release, RCMP say members were called at about 2:00 p.m. for a pickup truck off Highway 20 southwest of the city, near Chimney Valley Road. The vehicle had gone off the road to the right, coming to rest after hitting a hydro pole.

The female driver, the truck’s lone occupant, was declared dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved is described as a blue 1995 Ford F-150.

“Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of this collision, but at this time no criminality is suspected,” said Sgt. Chris Manseau, BC RCMP media relations officer. “The vehicle has been seized as part of the investigation and will be mechanically inspected in an effort to determine the cause.”

Anyone with further information about the incident, including dashcam footage, is asked to call Williams Lake RCMP at (250) 392-6211.
