Prince George Playhouse Hosting Performance of Bunk #7 on Saturday Night

Nov 3, 2022 | 6:07 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- Bunk # 7 tells the story of the Edmonton residental School Riots in the 1960s, from the perspective of the young Indigenous boys who found themselves smack in the middle of it. And it’s a story that had a deep connection to Northern BC, Late Nisga’a First Nation playwright Larry Guno, the former MLA of Atlin from 86 -91, is himself a survivor of the Edmonton Indian Residental School, and had a major role to play in the revolt.

One of the leading roles in the Production, played by Haida Gwaii First Nation’s own Kiefer Collison, a passionate indigenous educator in his own right, and a relative of the very same boy he’s now bringing to life on the theatre stage… As an encore to the performance, he’s conducting a Question and Answer talkback to help the audience digest the difficult subject matter

” Tell your cousins, tell your aunties, tell your uncles, tell your significant other, come to Bunk 7, we’re only in Prince George one night only, it’ll just take a couple hours, and it’ll change your life” – Kiefer Collison – Actor Bunk #7 / Big Brother Canada 9 Contestant

Given the difficult subject matter that the play covers, support workers from the Indigenous Residential School Survivors Society will be there, standing by to offer their assistance to anyone who might be upset by the content, or having difficulties after watching the performance. Bunk # 7 even comes with a trigger warning, advising audience members of supports available to them.

Bunk #7 Premieres at the Prince George Playhouse at 7pm on Saturday Night, Tickets are on sale now for $20 a piece at Books & Company on Third Ave… but if you can’t grab one before Saturday Night, surplus tickets are still available at the door.
