Cougars stomp Royals 9-1 in emphatic victory

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars dominated the Victoria Royal 9-1 improving their record to 11-9-0-0.

On a trip to the island, the Cougars faced the Royals Friday winning-handedly on the back of Hudson Thornton.

Thornton recorded his first WHL hat-trick ever and did so leading the Cougars with six points on the night.

Khoen Ziemmer along with Thornton excelled extending each of their point streaks.

With the win, the Cougars inch closer to the third seed in the WHL Western Conference Standing as they currently have 22 points. The Everitt Silvertips sit ahead of them with 24 points this season.

The emphatic win improves the Cougars’ record, but for the Royals, their record falls to 3-15-3-0 and sits last in the conference standings.

Prince George continues their road trip as they take on the Royals in a rematch at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre Saturday (November 19).
