KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are releasing information about the capture of a man wanted for violent offences out of Quesnel.

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the arrest took place on Nov. 10 when the local detachment was informed the man’s presence in Kamloops.

A number of specialized units came together to locate the man in the area of Notre Dame Drive and Dalhousie Drive, where they surrounded and arrested him.

“This is a great example of Kamloops frontline officers, the Police Dog Service, Crime Reduction, Targeted Enforcement units (TEU) and probation working together to locate and apprehend an offender with a history of firearms and serious offences,” said Sgt. Todd Woon of the Kamloops RCMP TEU. “The professionalism of all those involved led to the accused being isolated from the public in a high traffic area and safely taken into custody.”

The man was wanted for breach in connection to a series of serious charges, including forcible confinement, break-and-enter with intent, disguising a face with intent, aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon and ammunition, among others. Kamloops resident Eric Joseph Heidemann, 33, will be held in custody until his next court appearance, set for Nov. 29.
