WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake got two impaired drivers for the price of one at a recent checkstop.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Nov. 29), RCMP reported the results of a series of checkstops conducted on the weekend of Nov. 19 and 20.

During one stop set up Nov. 19 near Second Ave. North and Boundary St., two vehicles approached the lone RCMP member at the same time. The member suspected both drivers to be impaired and separate breath tests confirmed the Mountie’s suspicion. Both drivers were served driving prohibitions and had their vehicles impounded.

At the same check stop, an ‘N’ driver was stopped, served with a driving prohibition and given four violation tickets for alcohol-related offences.

“B.C. Highway Patrol (BCHP) members conducted numerous impaired driving check points during the course of the weekend and stopped five impaired drivers and impounded five vehicles, ultimately contributing to making the roadways safer,” said Cst. Mark Bouchard of BCHP Williams Lake in the release.

RCMP remind residents to find alternatives to driving if they require transportation after drinking.
