PRINCE GEORGE – It was a scary scene Monday night as players and fans around the NFL prayed for Damar Hamlin’s Health. The Buffalo Bills’ safety knocked into Cardiac Arrest and needing CPR and life-saving treatment on the field. It was a moment that shocked the sports world including right here in Northern BC.

Jamie Boreham is the newly appointed Kodiaks Head Coach and for him, one of the first thoughts was what if this happens to one of my players while playing the game they love? The reality is a freak accident could happen. However, Boreham feels a lot better about the safety and technology in today’s game instead of when he played back in the day.

The same goes for the President of the BC Football Conference Tyler McLaren who saw the incident and thought about it possibly happening in the BCFC. However, he knows sometimes injuries like this are unpredictable and unpreventable. The best someone could do is be prepared to make sure it doesn’t get worse.

After the injury, the Sports world showed its support, whether it was having a moment of silence at an NHL game or donating to Hamlin’s charity which has raised over 6 Million dollars since the scary moment on and off the field. Multiple NFL Owners and players showing support for the Chasing M’s Foundation and teams changing their profile pictures on social media.

Hamlin has recovered significantly from the incident with his Breathing Tube removed. He also spoke to his team in the team meeting and continues to show significant progress in his road to recovery.
