PRINCE GEORGE– Like all good teams, you have to have a close relationship with your teammates. One of the unique relationships on the UNBC Men’s basketball team is the bond between the Centres and Power Forwards. A big reason why is because the group practices with each other on a daily.

“With the bigs. It’s important that we’re close because we got to trust each other defensively and offensively. And we spend at least 10 minutes a day all by ourselves with Coach Dale and we’re just playing one on one with each other. So you build a relationship.” – Spencer Ledoux, Starting Centre, UNBC Men’s Basketball

Spencer Ledoux is the starting center on the Twolves and is now in his 5th year in U-Sports. Over the years he’s tried to take players under his wing and be a leader. One of those players he’s helped get to where he’s been is starting Power Forward Fareed Shittu. A player Ledoux says has taken massive steps in his game.

“Fareed’s been fantastic since he got here. When he first got here, super skinny, and kind of uncoordinated. Now he’s a real basketball player and can really score with the ball. He had a game-high 27 last weekend. He’s been great. I love giving him the ball and knowing that he’s going to finish” – Spencer Ledoux, Starting Centre, UNBC Men’s Basketball

Shittu appreciates the mentorship from the Cente while also helping him out in his game. To them, the Big Men have a special bond like no other on the team.

“Spencer was actually the first person I met when I came on my recruiting visit. He was here and did a tour of the school with me and my mom. It’s really awesome being a PF or C because we get to bond over similar things. You know, we’re all bigs. And as Spencer said, we spend about 10 minutes every day playing one on one” – Fareed Shittu, 3rd year on the Timberwolves

Now the focus is to get back in the win collum. After a tough start to start the 2nd half of the season, the Timberwolves know this upcoming stretch of games will be crucial toward their playoff push.
