UNBC basketball teams post wins in Calgary

CALGARY — It was a good day for UNBC basketball teams on the road in Calgary Saturday.

Powered by 26 points from Spencer Ledoux, the men’s team beat Mount Royal 96 – 85.

Meantime Alina Shakirova scored 20 points to leave the UNBC womens basketball team past Mount Royal 72 – 56. After a slow start, the ladies outscored the Cougars 44 – 24 in the second half.

The results allowed both squads to split their weekend series on the road. UNBC will host Thompson Rivers University next weekend.
