Prince George Kodiaks to host inaugural“Black and Gold Gala” in support of scholarship programs

PRINCE GEORGE– The Prince George Kodiaks Football Club is rolling out the red carpet for the first-ever “Black and Gold Gala” in support of the organization’s scholarship programs. Former CFL player and Grey Cup champion, JR LaRose will deliver the keynote address.

“The Kodiaks are all about the development of youth and helping provide opportunities for young athletes to stay at home, play at home while investing in their future. This event will raise funds to do just that. It’s going to be one of the ‘must-do’ events of the year in PG, and I know everyone will have a great time while supporting our Kodiaks.” – Craig Briere, President of the Kodiaks Football Club.

The black-tie event, in partnership with the Lheidli T’enneh, will be held at the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort on February 11, 2023. The multi-part gala will include live music from Chris Goodwin, silent and live auctions, and a penthouse cocktail party with DJ Ant following the keynote speech. Cara Roberts will be completing a painting live at the event, which will be a spectacular addition to the auction portion of the evening.

Since retiring from the CFL, JR continues to motivate audiences across Canada and the USA sharing personal stories of his football journey and as an ambassador for Indigenous peoples.

“JR is not only a great speaker and former CFL player, but he was also once a junior football player who used that opportunity to further his career and give back to his community – and that’s what it’s all about.” – Craig Briere, President of the Kodiaks Football Club.

Money raised during the gala will directly benefit young athletes in Northern B.C. through scholarships, community supports, and the new Indigenous Play Fund. The Kodiaks Football Program takes pride in ensuring all athletes, regardless of affluence, gender, or other barriers, have access to inclusive programming. At this time, the organization serves young athletes aged 5 to 22.
