Man who allegedly carried long knife near elementary school facing multiple charges

PRINCE GEORGE — Charges have been laid against a man arrested near Peden Hill Elementary last Thursday (Feb 2).

RCMP allege he was walking on Range Road near Wiebe Road carrying a long knife and uttering threats to harm two people. The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m., a few minutes prior to the end of school.

Police located and arrested the suspect within 12 minutes of receiving the complaint. Multiple units responded, including frontline officers, a police service dog team and the Emergency Response Team.

Matthew Neil Izony is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and two counts of breach of a release order. His next court appearance is Friday for a bail hearing.
