PRINCE GEORGE – Finding employees to fill positions has become challenging for some businesses. To help satisfy demand, companies have started to adjust job descriptions for people with diverse abilities—making it a win for both the employer and employee.

Nadine Cape with Kopar Administration receives phone calls daily from businesses desperate to fill positions.

Kopar works with businesses to help develop a system that works with people with diverse abilities.

“There’s a fit for everybody, so you just need to find that fit. So we’re looking at working with employers to understand what a person with diverse abilities could work for you.”

For over 35 years, AiMHi has provided similar support to businesses and potential employees. At times AimHi attaches a job coach to the job seeker.

“Once the person is successful in gaining employment, a job coach is shoulder-to-shoulder support for the people in their group. And so they go to the business with them. They learn the tasks alongside them.”
