Police watchdog clears Williams Lake officers after 2022 death in Boitanio Park

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — B.C.’s police watchdog has cleared a pair of police officers after a man’s death in Boitanio Park last summer.

In a news release, the Independent Investigations of B.C. (IIO) says the incident happened in the evening of July 26, 2022.

Just after 9:00 p.m., two officers were summoned to check the wellness of a man in the park.

As they were doing so, a medical professional who happened to be nearby was observing, and noted the man appeared to be well and not in any medical distress.
