PRINCE GEORGE — A group of students from CNC took home top honours at the Western Canadian Business Competition (WCBC) at Douglas College.

The students won first place in the coveted “Strategic Plan” category and added two second place finishes for “Simulation Score” and overall “Junior Division.”

The team consisted of Shannon Fairservice, Bernadeth Prestano, Joses Lee, and Neha Clair and faced off against five junior teams from other BC post-secondary institutions during the competition.

Wendy Male, CNC’s dean of human services, university transfer, and business studies says that “their success is indicative of the high quality of education and preparation that the College of New Caledonia provides. Their dedication, work ethic, and strategic thinking resulted in this accomplishment.”

The Western Canada Business Competition takes place every year and “challenges students to apply the knowledge and skills obtained through their undergraduate programs in a simulated business scenario.”

The team took on ‘real’ roles for operations, finance, marketing, and human resources for their fictional company, Bagel Inc and this hypothetical business develops, manufactures, and markets drones and small wearable action capture cameras.
