‘Please just bring it back’: Museum CEO pleads for safe return of priceless pistol

PRINCE GEORGE – After two break-ins in as many weeks, the Exploration Place is missing one of its South Fort George treasures.

A ‘pepper-box’ replica pistol was taken out a case at the Exploration Place on Thursday by a thief who smashed the front door of the building on their way in.

“When you steal something like this from us, and decide it’s of no use to you or you can’t sell it so you throw it in the river. It’s lost forever. That’s lost to the whole community and to generations yet to come,” said Tracy Calogheros, CEO of the Exploration Place. “Whoever does have this, you can’t sell it, it’s not worth anything, you’re never going to be able to fire it, please just bring it back.”

Prince George RCMP are still investigating the break-ins which ultimately led to thousands of dollars in damage to the community building. Despite having little monetary value, the significance of the antique pistol is irreplaceable according to Calogheros.
