PRINCE GEORGE — The long-awaited passport office destined for Prince George will finally be opening its doors soon.

Travellers wanting to get or renew a Canadian passport will soon be able to get theirs in Prince George. The federal government will be opening the passport office here on Tuesday April 25th. The office will be located at 1363 4th Avenue and will provide 10-day passport processing service and a pick-up option.

The office will be open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. The closest option for people in Prince George wanting to get a passport was in Kelowna. MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley Taylor Bachrach says that the new office is good news for citizens of Northern BC.

“It’s something that we pushed really hard for. And, you know, I think it’s a bit of an anomaly we see in northern B.C. We see a lot of services being pulled away from the north and we have to to fight like crazy sometimes just to retain basic levels of government service in our communities. So to have passport services increased beyond what they used to be, I think that’s something we should all be celebrating.” – Taylor Bachrach, MP Skeena-Bulkley Valley (NDP)
