Local couple to celebrate 75th wedding anniversary

PRINCE GEORGE — England, 1948. It was a different time, a country that was still feeling the effects of the Second World War, but on May 15th, Les and Dorothy Alway were united in marriage. 75 years ago, but Dorothy and Les remember the day as if it were yesterday.

While a wedding day is a special occasion for couples, Dorothy and Les had some luck on that day, that made their wedding all the more special.

“We were lucky we were able to have the church bells ring at the wedding because it was only just after the war ended and at that time you weren’t allowed church bells. We were one of the first to be able to hear the church bells after the war. – Dorothy Alway

Even after 75 years I asked Dorothy and Les, if there was anything about each other that annoyed them…

He watches a lot of TV. And I’m not much of a TV fan, but there are some programs that I like to watch, but sometimes we’re both sitting here together watching it, and then I may get up to go and make each other tea or start a lunch. When I come back, he takes the remote and changes the program so that it makes me really cross! – Dorothy Alway

After 75 years Les and Dorothy still enjoy each other’s company and make each other laugh, especially reminiscing on past adventures. Here’s to many more years of health and happiness to Les and Dorothy. Happy Anniversary.
