Conservation officers investigate killing of grizzly bear near Quesnel

QUESNEL, B.C. — The B.C. Conservation Officer Service is investigating the killing of a grizzly bear near Quesnel.

In a post to social media, the service says officers were notified of the shooting north of Quesnel at about 5:00 p.m. on Sunday (May 21).

COs found four suspects and the dead grizzly. Three rifles were seized and the investigation is not yet closed.

The service notes while hunting of black bears is allowed during open season, there is no open season for grizzlies.
