May 27, 2023 | 3:55 PM

PRINCE GEORGE — Dance Your Hart Out Dance Studio (DYHO) has been gaining a fair bit of recognition on the competitive dance stage recently as multiple dancers from the studio have been winning top awards over the 2022/2023 season. Nicole McCormick is the owner of Dance Your Hart Out and tells us more about how the studio came to be.

“Dance Your Hart Out Dance Studio started as a recreational program at the Hart Community Center six years ago. It’s wonderful to be able to do something that you love, something that you’re passionate on the side … And just to be able to serve the Hart community, I feel really, really happy to be able to do that.” – Nicole McCormick, Owner, DYHO

This season has been very successful for the studio, with dancers winning awards not only on a local and regional level, but also provincially.

“We have had a super successful dance season this year and we’re really proud of all of our kids right from September, where we had a group of Highland dancers traveled to Montreal through to multiple competitions and festivals, kids in the Lower Mainland for Allegro, for ballet, kids in the Lower Mainland, for a shine for stage awards, Quesnel dance festivals, Prince George Dance Festival. We’re just really proud of our kids and their successes this year. – Tina Sidorov, Manager, Ballet Highland, DYHO

Keira Andersen is just one of the studio’s dancers to be awarded a top accolade this season, Keira was named the best overall dancer at the Prince George Dance Festival.

For the dancers, it’s not just about the awards and accolades, it’s also about doing something they love and getting to spend time with others who also love dance.
