Coastal GasLink is aware of a single vehicle incident near Prince George, B.C. this morning involving a chartered bus transporting workers employed by our camp provider.

At this time, we understand that 17 people are receiving treatment from local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. We are grateful for the support and care of those individuals, and that this did not result in a more serious accident. Any incident where workers or the community are involved is not something we take lightly.

Coastal GasLink is committed to helping ensure the environment, our workforce, and surrounding communities are safe in everything we do.

Earlier: RCMP released more details on this morning’s bus accident.

Mounties say 30 people were on board the bus and say it’s unknown how many are injured, though no serious injuries have been reported.

“Prince George RCMP and Northern Health are currently working on getting a Northern Health Connections bus to the location to assist with transporting the wounded passengers. Efforts to reach the location have been made increasingly difficult with the early morning rain and the current road conditions, in addition to the distance from Prince George to the incident location,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

She says seven ground ambulances from Prince George and Mackenzie, along with three BCEHS support units, and multiple frontline police officers, have been dispatched to the location.

University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George has declared a Code Orange to support the response to the incident, and Northern Health is asking that area residents avoid the UHNBC emergency department for all but life-threatening emergency needs at this time.

Earlier: A bus accident occurred north of Prince George Friday morning.

RCMP confirms it happened on Hambone Road and Firth Lake Forest Service Road, about an hour-and-a-half from Prince George at 8:30 a.m.

RCMP says there have been unknown injuries and says it was a charter bus that was involved. Police say it took two hours for first responders to arrive at the scene.

Sources tell CKPG News that a Code Orange has been declared at UHNBC. A Code Orange is a term hospitals use when a surge in patients is expected.

We’ll release more details as soon as more information is released.
