PRINCE GEORGE — The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society of Prince George held its Day of Cultures event on Saturday at the Conference and Civic Centre allowing the community to come together and learn more about the different cultures that are present in our community.

A number of officials were present at the opening ceremonies, including MP Todd Doherty, MLA Shirley Bond, Councillor Tim Bennett, Chief Dolleen Logan of the Lheidli T’enneh and Elder Darlene McIntosh all reiterating the message that Prince George is home for everyone, of all cultures.

Rose and Nael Tohme came to Canada from Syria, and were the first Syrian refugee family to arrive in Northern BC and now proudly call Prince George home. Rose and Nael say that the Day of Cultures gives them a chance to share their Syrian culture with the community.
