Jul 5, 2023 | 2:03 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – A survey is underway to determine if Prince George could become a bat-friendly community. A pair of UNBC scientists have launched a research project asking residents for their take on flying mammals.

In recent years, bats have suffered from a tarnished reputation as disease carriers. UNBC is surveying better to understand Prince George’s residents’ knowledge about bats.

The survey questions touch on several questions, such as whether you have encountered bats to are interested in having a bat house.

The shifting climate presents survival challenges, compounding the already arduous life of bats with their tarnished reputation.

To access the survey, email annie.booth@unbc.ca. The results, which will shed light on the extent of community interest in conserving bats in Prince George, are anticipated to be released in November.
