Drought alert issued for Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako
NORTHERN BC – An Information Notice is being provided by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako due to the drought situation within the region. The Province of BC uses a six-level drought classification to explain the severity and appropriate level of response to drought conditions.
The entirety of the RDBN is currently classified as Level 4, meaning adverse impacts to socioeconomic or ecosystem values are likely. Current drought conditions are likely to impact some residents water supplies, agricultural production, and have increased the fire risk. Residents are advised to monitor water use and follow any bylaws restricting water usage within their area, if applicable.
The public is advised to exercise extreme caution while recreating within the region to prevent increased risk of fire.
