PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves Women’s Soccer team took to the pitch at Masich Place this past week to start their preparation for the upcoming Canada West season.

Sarah Lepine is in her fifth year with the Timberwolves, and is excited to start the season.

“We’re all super pumped for the season. It’s a great time of year to come back and be with all your teammates again. It’s a great bonding experience and it’s nice to like just be together and just be ready to go, ready to work.” – Sarah Lepine, Fullback/Midfield, UNBC Timberwolves Soccer

Since this is Sarah’s fifth and final year with the Timberwolves, there are lots of mixed emotions.

“Mixed emotions for sure. I’m super happy to be a senior and feel like I can take a leadership role on the team. I’ve learned a lot from the past seniors, and now I feel like I’m stepping into that position and it’s awesome.” – Sarah Lepine, Fullback/Midfield, UNBC Timberwolves Soccer

Kate Rattee is newer to the team, having joined last year as a redshirt, and although she is currently dealing with an injury, she is still excited to be back with the group.

“It feels really good to be back. Love pre-season. It’s just summer with a lot of soccer, so it’s super fun. Feels good to be back with my group. Like, I really miss this team and I train a lot better when I’m with them. Just like being cautious injury wise, but there’s lots of time to like play games.” – Kate Rattee, Striker, UNBC Timberwolves Soccer

With her experience from last year, Kate says she is ready for the season ahead.

“I feel like I got to learn like so much and even more than like some players, like just watching everything from the outside and still being in all of the training and being on for like all the games and the whole ride. And I feel like I just have even more motivation to come in and like, do super well this year because of redshirting. And I just have so much more like competitiveness and I’m really ready to jump in there, show what I’ve learned in pre-season and hopefully have a really good season.” – Kate Rattee, Striker, UNBC Timberwolves Soccer

The Twolves will open their season with a pair of home games, the first against the Trinity Western Spartans on August 25th and the second against the University of Fraser Valley Cascades on August 27th.
