PRINCE GEORGE – Game two for the Prince George Kodiak kicked off this past Saturday against the Westshore Rebels who came into this game with a perfect 2-0 record. The Rebels weren’t short of perfect this game either, scoring a touchdown within minutes of the opening quarter.

On the opposite end, the Kodiaks’ practices these last two weeks definitely paid off as they managed to wet their toes in the opposition’s red zone this game. A major step up from their last game against the Okanagan Sun.

After scoring a few more touchdowns on the Kodiaks, the Prince George hopefuls were still able to make it a good game with a few interceptions and promising looks on the offensive side. They were able to get the ball in for their first touchdown of the season.

The six-foot-seven wide receiver, Kayle Cowley, got the Kodiaks their first ticks on the scoreboard, and he says it was a full team effort.

“It felt great. It could have been anyone out there. All the receivers are dogs. So, it’s just when the ball goes up, try to get it.”

The offense definitely showed success this game and defensively the team took strides.

“Our defense played great. We had an interception down here, like I remember, and then a bunch of stops.

The final score was 49 to 10 for the Rebels. The Kodiaks host the Kamloops Broncos on August 19.
