PRINCE GEORGE — Thursday marked the opening of a new office on Lheidli T’enneh territory for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). The new office is located at 1005 Landooz Road and is across road from the new health centre. Julie Morrison, the Vice President of Regional Operations, says that one of the reasons for building the new office was space.

“We needed a space. We need more space where we’re getting crowded in the main office. so having space out here is a place where we can come, be calm, connect to the land and put our feet in the grass and relax and take time like that.” – Julie Morrison, Vice President of Regional Operations, FNHA

Chief Dolleen Logan gave opening remarks and emphasized that this opening is also about relationship building, strengthening the the bonds between the FNHA and the Lheidli T’enneh.

“I’m so glad that we’re going to be working with them… That’s the key is easy access. So our nation welcomes all visitors and always will be.” – Chief Dolleen Logan, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

Chuck Wilmink is a part of FNHA Corporate Services was involved with the project and spoke about how important it is to get out to the regions that the FNHA serves.

“It’s been a really great team project to get ready. What I’m really happy about is I was with Health Canada for this role and we had a small team in the office and we never got out to the regions and there wasn’t much. And in a ten year change now with the gathering with since the caucus sessions that change the culture, safety, humility, traditional healing, it’s just been fantastic.” – Chuck Wilmink, FNHA Corporate Services

The new office will provide space for 12 provincial and regional employees, allowing the FNHA to work closer with their clients.
